Friday Finds - 7/16/21

I always love reading weekly round-ups, with quick links, products, and little life hacks. I'm starting my own "Friday Finds" with a mix of things I've enjoyed recently, finds for home and lifestyle, and my favorite articles of the week. I have quite a backlog of stuff to work through, so let's get started!

This post contains affiliate links. I only recommend products I would use myself and all opinions expressed here are my own. If you use these links to buy something I may earn a commission, at no additional cost to you. Thanks for your support!

Why I'm Done Apologizing for Clutter

I've developed my own routine for how I handle the mayhem in my home while preserving my mental health. There are a few daily reminders that I hold onto to keep myself in a positive mood among the mayhem:

  • I don't clean so that my home is clean, I clean so that it doesn't fall into total disrepair and filth.
  • My house can be clean and styled, but not all at the same time.
  • I usually only try to clean and pick up once or twice a day. More than that, and I feel like I'm constantly chasing a mess around.
  • Even all the Instagram/Pinterest homes I love and take major inspiration from don't look like "that."

My Family And Other Animals: The Reality Behind The Curated Instagram Feed

Related to the above, Sandra of The Idle Hands really had me chuckling with this post. She writes, "I like to look at my own Instagram feed sometimes, to remind me how the house can look." And what a gorgeous home it is, in curated perfection, or in a mess.

What a fantastic roundup that shows the farmhouse aesthetic in a totally different light. Bravo.

Briotech Topical Skin Spray

Last year, I had so many problems with my eyes, and my ophthalmologist had me using this simple spray of sodium and chlorine to keep my eyelashes and eyelids as clean as possible. I later realized that you can use it all over your skin - our body makes the same chemical composition to support natural healing. The spray was designed for a ton of different applications including acne, piercing aftercare, and scar healing. Since I started using it all over my face in the morning and evening, I've nearly eliminated breakouts, especially the constant "maskne" I was getting regardless of mask washing. It's cheap and super effective - highly recommended.

Ikea FÖRNUFTIG Air Purifier

I've been looking for an air purifier that would tick a few boxes: small, functional, not ugly/obtrusive, and not wildly expensive. Ikea has just introduced their model - at $60, I can afford to add one in each of our bedrooms, and in the living room. I'm just waiting for the white ones to come back in stock at my local store.
